Why mine are different
Stand on the X. Three poses. Next family, please.
Mine work differently. In twenty minutes we get real variety: candid, connected, in motion, together and apart. I've spent twelve years learning how to make a session feel like recess, especially for the four-year-old who announced in the car that he will NOT be smiling.
Twenty minutes is the length. It is not the experience.

The details
$575$375 to book · $200 the day of your session
Every image from your twenty minutes, usually 30 to 50. Nine out of ten families add it.
What makes it different
I build breathing room around every session. If your toddler needs a minute, we take a minute. You'll never feel like the next family is waiting on you.
Shy ones, wild ones, the three-year-old who is Not Doing This Today. I make the session feel like a game they're winning, and the photos take care of themselves.
Many of my families have been coming back for years, some since their oldest was a baby. I know their kids' names, their ages, and exactly which one will bolt.
How it works

48 hours before your session: exactly where to meet, where to park, and what to expect. Need something sooner? Just email me.
Your only job is arriving on time. The twenty minutes are yours.

Your photographer
I'm a destination wedding photographer, traveling the country for big, beautiful, black-tie weddings. But families are my heart. I photograph family and newborn sessions all year between wedding weekends, and every fall I block off my calendar for minis, because nothing brings me more joy than watching little ones grow up.
A lot of my families started out as my wedding couples, and photographing their kids is my favorite full-circle moment. I shoot families the same way I shoot weddings: natural posing that never feels cheesy, a bit of an epic edge, and photos you'll want to print big and hang on your wall (not just giant faces staring back at you).
I've worked with hundreds of kids, and no two are the same. I have a multitude of tricks up my sleeve for getting a real smile, and I'll find the one that works for yours.
What I love most is the imperfect stuff: the tiny details, the light through the trees, the moments that give your family its character. I lean into those, hard.
If we haven't met yet, I can't wait to meet yours.

Then twelve years of experience earns its keep. I build calm-down room into every session, and some of my favorite frames are the comfort right after the storm.
Soft neutrals and earth tones, texture over logos. Then try the squint test: squint at your outfit, and if you can still make out a pattern or graphic, it's too busy. Solids, knits, and tiny patterns that blur together are perfect.
Within two weeks. Need them faster? A three-day rush is available for $125.
Yes, bring them! Grandparents are welcome at your mini session. If aunts, uncles, and cousins are coming too, the extended family session above is made for a group that size.
Yes, at most locations! Everywhere except the beaches and the sand dunes. Look for "Dogs welcome" in the date list. The San Juan Capistrano Mission charges its own dog fee. Bring treats or a favorite toy, because they help get your pup looking at the camera.
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Sessions run back to back, so I can't extend into the next family's time.
I make the call by 6pm the night before and text everyone. If I cancel, you get first pick of my remaining dates. Light overcast is beautiful and we shoot right through it.
Free up to 21 days before your session. Inside 21 days there's a $175 change fee. Your session fee is never lost. It's always either a session or a credit.
